Student Wellbeing at the heart of Wiki Whai Hauora

Each semester the Student Wellbeing team host Wiki Whai Hauora, a week where we encourage students to pursue health and support their physical and mental wellbeing.

Our Student Wellbeing Ambassadors and Student Clubs help put together a week of relaxing and informative events to help our students unwind and take some time to relax. Semester Two Wiki Whai Hauora typically aligns with Mental Health Awareness Week, whose theme changes each year.

The week provides plenty of opportunities for students to rest and recharge their batteries ahead of the end of semester. It’s the perfect time for students to connect with friends, get a little active, drop everything for a few minutes, and switch off.  Student life can seem pretty hectic sometimes, especially this year with the return to on-campus teaching, assignments due, and exams approaching. Wiki Whai Hauora has been designed as a helpful reminder to slow down and take things easy in these times of stress, which helps benefit our general well-being.

Highlights this year included Glow Flow, Retro Dance, Virtual Reality painting, free vegan lunches, tie-dye t-shirt making and a movie night. We also saw a record high in participation levels from our student groups, with contributing events from a significant number of clubs and networks across both semesters.

It was great to see our students getting involved and taking some time out from their busy lives to rest and recharge.
