The Great Waka Ama Race – Bay Edition
This year, the Great Waka Ama Race – Ōkahu Edition was held on Sunday, 2 October, with 50 students competing across seven University teams.
Faculty and association teams paddled from the Hyundai Marine Sports Centre at Ōkahu Bay around a 2km course that took them out towards the wharf, left past the Orakei Marina lighthouse and then back to shore. There was a sprint start and finish for each team during the race. As with every year, the race was fast and the competition fierce – with rainy weather to contend with this year too.
The FMHS Seabass took the win, closely followed by Law Lions and Commerce Cougars. Huge well done to everyone who took part this year!
